So we might have missed the Halloween time-frame on this one, but that doesn't make this short film any less deserving of a feature; or any less creepy. Titled Mama, this short film does in 3 minutes what many big-budget horror films fail to do throughout their 120 minute runtime, and that's simply: scare the living Hell out of you. The film's got a wickedly simple plot-line and it delivers it with terrifying precision. Something akin to a childhood nightmare, 'Mama' is haunting. Makes us wonder what inspired director Andy Muschietti to craft such a film, but then again we don't really want to know. 'Mama' also gets points for being shot entirely on a 35mm format.
