Best in Technology - 2012

This year we were treated to more tech and gadgets than we could handle. Windows released their new OS as long as some pretty neat tablets to run it. Apple countered with the iPhone 5 and the iPad mini, both of which sold-out in hours. On the gaming side of things sequels like Assassin's Creed 3 and Halo 4 dominated.  It's been a good year, but what's the best?

Best Smartphone

Did you have any doubts about this one? Apple knows just what their consumers want, even if the consumers don't even know. The iPhone 5 debuted with a larger display, faster processor, and a bit of a sleeker design and it sold in droves. But it's not because of it's immense popularity that the iPhone 5 is the year's best phone. It's because it's a damn good phone. No phone operates as quick, takes better pictures, or just seem to work as satisfyingly well as this one.

Honorable Mentions: Samsung Galaxy SIII, Lumia 920

Best Tablet

Let's face it, if you don't think Apple's got a lock on the smartphone market, then you must admit they've got it locked when it comes to tablets. The iPad 4 and the iPad mini are the only tablets you even heard about this year. Ever heard of a surface tablet? - We didn't think so.The iPad's new, faster A6X processor adds extra system speed and graphics power to the already amazing tablet. Improvement in worldwide cellular compatibility makes the LTE model more appealing and Apple's App Store remains best in class, with the widest selection.

Honorable Mentions: Asus Transformer Pad Infinity TF700

Best in Gaming

Journey, from ThatGameCompany, is a rare title that celebrates exploration and player individuality. This is a very abstract game and one of the most rewarding ever created. Journey is this year's best game because it's so personal and creative. It provides player's with one of the most enjoyable and beautiful experiences possible. A true achievement in digital entertainment.

Honorable Mentions: The Walking Dead, Far Cry 3, Assassin's Creed 3

Best Camera

The Nikon D4 is an absolute powerhouse of performance. A great camera is all about capturing the best images possible and the D4 does so effortlessly, even in the worst of lighting conditions. Couple that with Nikon's long line of lenses and flash system, you've got yourself this year's best camera. Of course this camera is probably too expensive for most, but if you're looking for the best, then this is it.

Honorable Mentions: Canon 1D X
