Fire Painter

As artists, we already think painting is bad-ass. But just in case there was any doubt check out the below artist.

Meet Spazuk, who for the last 14 years has been using a technique he developed and perfected that allows him to use the flame of a candle or the flame of a torch as a pencil to create his paintings with trails of soot. Basically, the man paints with fire.

Spazuk says he doesn't often know what images he intends to make but instead embraces chance by exploring patterns and shapes found in the soot to guide the artwork. He also employs stencils and a reductive process akin to etching, where he scrapes images into the soot with feathers and paint brushes. Check out the above artist profile video and then take a look at Spazuk's site to see his latest work.
