Breaking Borders

Uruguayan artist Joaquín Torres-García was avant-garde before most of his fellow countrymen knew what avant-garde was. A true modernist, Torres filled the art world with his bold style and brought with it a vision of Latin-American art that, at the time, the world knew little about. I

nspired by the likes of Picasso and DuChamp, Torres style is eerily reminiscent of Jean-Michele Basquiat; who wouldn't even be born for another 40 years. Enjoy this brief glimpse into the artist's portfolio.
