2013 is rumored to be a big year for the music industry. Top acts like Beyonce, The Black Keys, and MGMT are expected to drop new albums within the year. Even musicians who haven't released any new material in years, even decades, like Justin Timberlake and My Bloody Valentine are expected to bring something new. All this music talk lately has got us thinking: What albums are we looking forward to most this year? Are top 5 picks are below.
5. Pusha T - My Name Is My Name
We just got Pusha-T's Wrath of Caine mixtape - which was excellent. But that's not all we will be receiving from the Virginia MC this year. In fact, Pusha-T's first full-length studio album is scheduled to release early into 2013. Pusha has dominated the game since he stepped into the spotlight last year on the GOOD Music track "Mercy." If Wrath of Caine is any indication of what My Name is My Name will be like, then we're definitely looking forward to it.
4. Kings of Leon - Untitled LP
We haven't received a new album from Kings of Leon since 2010's Come Around Sundown. However the US rockers have promised they are hard at work on new material. If things go as planned the album should be ready for release sometime this Summer or Fall. It's been a while since we've had a great KoL song to jam to. We think it's time that changes.
3. Justin Timberlake - The 20/20 Experience
It's been six years since JT has released a new album. Far too long if you ask some fans. Luckily The 20/20 Experience isn't far off. The album which features guest talent like Jay-Z and Beyonce is slated for release on March 19th. We've already heard one single from the album, Suit & Tie. It's pretty slick and has our hopes set high for the full album. Don't disappoint us JT.
2. Kid Cudi - Indicud
We love Kid Cudi so much because of his abstract sound. It's hard to categorize the rapper with any other MC just because his sound is so different. His uniqueness is why we're looking forward to Indicud. If he can handle his on-going label woes we just might get the album soon. Our hopes are high.
1. Jay-Z - Untitled LP
Doesn't Hov always top our music-related lists? Blame our Editor-In-Chief. Joking aside, we are looking forward to a new album from the Brooklyn MC. Sadly, Jay hasn't confirmed anything is coming in 2013. However all signs indicate a new album is eminent. His top producer Young Guru has gone on record to confirm Hov's been in the studio. Apparently he's already got a few songs down, even a track that features Frank Ocean. The last solo album we saw from Jay-Z was 2009's Blueprint 3, though he did work on 2011's collaborative Watch the Throne with Kanye West. Jay's been making his guest appearance rounds on all his favorite rappers albums in the past year, now it's time for the king to drop something new himself.
