It's the return of the western. Don't believe it? Then maybe you missed the blockbuster success of Jon Favreau's
Cowboys & Aliens or somehow forgot about the Coen Brother's 2010 Academy Award nominated
True Grit. If you managed to overlook those then you can look ahead to this years big-screen western
Lawless.

Tom Hardy and Shia LeBeouf as the Bondurant Brothers. |
Director John Hillcoat (his most recent film was
The Road) aims to make 2012 a three-peat for the release of successful westerns. And if the below trailer is any indication of what's time come, then things are looking to be in his favor. The almost 3 minute long trailer does an excellent job of showing of the film's incredible cast: Tom Hardy, Shia LeBeouf, Guy Pearce, Gary Oldman, and Jessica Chastain.
"Do you have any idea what a Thompson sub-machine gun does to immortal?"
The story of the film is set in the Depression-era Franklin County, Virginia, a bootlegging gang is threatened by authorities who want a cut of their profits. Based on the story of the three Bondurant brothers who rose from outlaws to heroes in their fight against corrupt law enforcement and rival gangs. Here's hoping this film is 2012's
True Grit.
